Is there any cheap (IE: Under $300) animation software? Is it easy to use? Designed with newbs in mind? ECT? Just wondering. My job (Mowing lawns) is no longer supporting me, so I don't have the same income as I used to. So, how 'bout it?
What kind of software are you looking for?
Because, Blender 3d it's an open source software totally free,
ovbiusly it's for 3d modelling and animation, but you can use the video secuence editor
tool to made video files from images created with hand drawing and scanner or digital camera. www.blender.org
Well, I'm kinda a 2d person. Maybe it was all the late nights with an NES controller in hand, a mountain Dew and Doritos by my side... Friday night.. Okay.. Random though. Anyways.
I am looking for a software for 2d animations. I'll look into Blender 3D though.
Also, any free trials out there? I know there are stop motion animation things out there.
Well I do know about KToon Which aims to be an open source 2D animation tool in the same way that Blender is for 3D... the cool thing is that is open source, licensed under GPL, so it would rock if it gets as strong as Blender did..... the bad thing is that for now only works in Linux.... but AFAIK, its the only free software aimed at 2D animation for animators.
Oh.. theres also the ajax animator, it aims to be an open source replacement for flash... however its still in infant stages nothing too shabby to be used actually, but who knows, might be worth to check it out
For stop motion, theres the free Anazasi Stop motion Animator.. I haven't looked into it, but some tell me that is kinda nice... the thing is that is OLD, there hasn't been an update since like 2 years ago I believe? But you might want to have a look...
You can find Boinx Istopmotion for under $100. There are several versions for various prices, but the best for the price are probably the $40 and $100 versions, really stable stuff. If you're interested you should research to see if you have a compatible camera before buying the software.
There's also Flip Book by Toon Boom, which is something like $30. If you want something a bit more substantial try Toon Boom Studio. They have offers on all the time. I had Studio Express free with a computer magazine and then upgraded to Studio for less than $300. It'd be worth checking out their website www.toonboom.com to see what's of offer.
I've also got The Tab, which is now called by a different name, but to be honest, I now stick pretty much to Digital Pro.
Are you talking about the professional version of flipbook? I heard that the cheap one can't shoot very many frames. My buddy has the professional version of flipbook, and it seems to function much like istopmotion. Also, does the version you're talking about have onion skinning?
I think it's important to note that istop has motion capture, which is pretty cool. The trade off though is that you can't draw in the program like you can with flipbook. Also, you can't use istop with PC, which is probably its biggest drawback.
