YO JOE! I'm back on the throwbacks with a vengance. As a kid I collected G.I.Joe figures and indulged in the 80's cartoon. One of the most remembered characters for me was Destro. Looking back now as an adult, he looks kinda pimpish, so I had to throw the Barroness in this pic. For the backdrop, I tried to replicate the toy packaging. I drew the characters on animation paper, scanned them in, then colored it all in photoshop.
NOW IT"S YOUR TURN TO DRAW YOUR FAVORITE JOE! BETWEEN NOW AND THE END OF THE YEAR DRAW YOUR VERSION OF YOUR FAVORITE JOE ( or Joes) AND SUBMIT IT FOR A PRIZE! CONTEST DETAILS WILL BE POSTED SOON. START SKETCHING NOW BECAUSE "KNOWING IS HALF THE BATTLE!"
Can someone talk to the site moderators about establishing some limits on the number of images people can post per day in the main gallery? Nobody's pictures will ever get many hits unless they can be seen on the front gallery page for at least a little while. Most of the other gallery sites I contribute to have a 3 image per day posting limit.
I used to play with my GI Joe action figures back before there was a cartoon show. The dolls Action Figures were 12 in tall back then. When the Movie came out I was in heaven. Looking back at it now (I have the VHS version of the movie) I realize there are a lot of problems with the story but back then the action and story twists were great to watch.
Here is my entry for Throwback Thursday. Scarlett Vs Baroness in battle.
Know what you mean. I loved the film and cartoons, and still like them but man..... some plots are just bizarre or totally bull. But just that makes it fun to watch as an adult too. Like you I'm also a fan of old joe. About a year ago I finally got my own red bearded non kungfu handed action sailor with box, it was quite a magnificent day ; ) But then again,... I'm a really big Gi.joe nut. I collect the vintage 60's and 70's stuff along with my main collection of 3 3/4 joes. And to top it off, a cobra tattoo, of course....
who's winning by the way, scarlet or he somewhat other redheaded baroness? ; D
I was always more of a Transformers fan than a Joe one, but I still have fond memories of watching the cartoons after school. Flint was always my favorite.
My favorite cartoons of this era were He-Man and She-Ra, but my little brother and I used to watch GI Joe everyday as well. The handy first aide tips at the end were the most memorable part for me.
So, for the love of Care Bears here's my version of Scarlett from her early years before she became a master of the crossbow.
Angela, it's good that you posted this. I was prepared to kill Funshine at the drop of a hat!
I had even started sharpening the pike for use in impaling said Care Bear.
Now I need to get crack-a-lackin' on mine!
Here's a 3-D render of of Cobra Commander. I'm surprised no one has posted an image of him until now. He was a bit of a wussy I suppose. (Click on the link below to view the image.)
My entry comes from the G.I. Joe comic series, the first comic I collected. There was a tracker/mercenary named "Kwinn" who was in the first 20 issues or so. He and Snake Eyes caused a lot of trouble together.
