I'm wondering if anyone has any wisdom to provide when it comes to finding sound for an animator's independent works.

I want to add sound to animations that I submit to contests and such, but I'm worried about copywright infrignment if I use sounds that arent public domain. Sometimes I need specific foley or animal sounds that I cant find on websites that have free public domain, and the low-quality stuff that I can record myself doesnt satisfy my needs. And editing sound on Flash has so far worked against me. Does anyone have any suggestions for solving this dilemma? (anything that wont drain my wallet)

CC MIxter is a great place to start. You can get tracks and more finished work under CC

if your looking for free, you might try http://www.flashkit.com/soundfx/ or http://www.royaltyfreemusic.com/sound-effects.html

...or if your willing to spend some cash, as Pattison pointed out, sounddogs has a huge library of sound effects
