Do you ever just sit back and think about.................

Hello All,

Once again I’m sitting here BORED at WORK, and remembering back to when life was actually FUN to live.
Now don’t attempt to read this the WRONG WAY, I am VERY HAPPY with my beautiful wife and EXTREMELY OVER-JOYED that we have a beautiful healthy baby boy. My family and home life is NOT what I am referring to, I am writing to discuss with you the times BEFORE all the overwhelming pressures of the financial responsibilities we ALL pretty much face on a daily basis coupled with the stress which accumulates from our everyday routines. BEFORE 24 hours felt like it was NOT ENOUGH time to complete the things that HAD TO BE DONE, instead of NOT ENOUGH TIME to do the things you actually wanted or a time you wished would NEVER END……

**How many of you sit back from time to time and daydream about when you were younger?
You know, just thinking about ALL the stuff you did when you were a kid, thinking back to all those memories BEFORE life became more of a chore than an actual pleasure. I find myself always remembering back, lovin ALL that nostalgia.
**How many of you can remember all the toys you had, especially growin up in the 80s?
**How many of you can remember back to the times when Saturday Morning Cartoons actually existed?
**How many of you can remember back to the times when ALL your toys had a corresponding cartoon, and getting home from school to see all the NEW commercials for what was comin out next was actually a big deal.
**How many of you can remember takin your FAVORITE figures to school and havin battles that spanned the WHOLE playground? Or on rainy days, the gym/cafeteria became the battleground?
**How many of you remember selling your childish drawings and sketches for quarters?
**How many of you remember spending full days roaming the neighborhood looking for someplace to explore in the hopes of going on some GOONIES type adventures?
**How bout takin your favorite Joes out to the backyard to play by your favorite tree or mud pit you dug. Then tying string all over to create grapple lines or finding sticks and leaves to create micro bases to destroy with your favorite vehicles?
**THERE ARE SOOOOOOO MANY MEMORIES, I WISH I HAD A VIDEO OF EVERY SECOND.
Too bad times like that are pretty much looooong gone, society has changed SOOOO much and SO much IMPORTANCE has been replaced by SO much INSIGNIFICANCE.
I just pray that my son will have the chance to enjoy his childhood just as much, if not MORE, than I did while I was growing up.

I'm right with you, dude. I find myself being very nostalgic about my youth all the time. It's a sign that we had a good childhood, and reminds us how great life really is.

BTW, I loved when it snowed, cause me and my joes would battle cobra in the frozen tundra.

Yeah, the gym/cafeteria was a battleground. Not the good kind. Glad you had a groovy kidlinghood, chief, but I can't relate. Not one damn bit.

I had so much fun as a kid, probably because we didn't have the technology of today to entertain us. We couldn't afford a computer, video games, but even though we had a TV, rarely did it dominate our lives. We used to have an old abandoned jeep that we play in, spending hours with my brother trying to escape the Germans like in a WW2 movie. We'd build dens, and do so much of the outdoor stuff that is sadly alien to many kids today. We're only talking like 15 -20 years ago, but so much has changed since then. However, I have a young son, who at two years of age has a great imagination. Our plan is to get an old rowing boat and put in our garden, make a mast and let him sail the seven seas. Although I'm doing it for him, in reality I'm doing it for me, to ensure he enjoys his childhood as much as possible.

I don't hold to any fairytales, that we'll all live happily ever-after. In many ways, our kids may well have more struggles on their hands than any of us could dream of. But as for me and my house, we will worship the Lord, and let Him take us on our greatest adventure yet.

HA. That's funny. I remember those days My friend and I that I've known since 84 still talk about that stuff. riot. I worry about the kids of today. It seems like the future will have a little less imagination, play time is so automated now. Unless we unplug our children for a while and show them how powerful imaginations are.
