I have herd that to create a a successful series a BIBLE is a must have, especially when pitching it to a company.

1 What all goes into this BIBLE?

2 Where should you start?

3 Where on the internet are some of the best examples? links please

4 Do any of you have a BIBLE you would share as an example?

5 When in your project is the right time to start your own BIBLE?

Now that makes sense, so at the level I am at whats needed is the pitch bible. What I was trying to ask is what is needed to get my small crew on the same page to better connect on the project and create a more refined work flow in the studio environment? I just want to keep my workers from straying from our goal. Some if not all of this could be in the pitch bible?

No, the pitch bible is not for the crew, and the writers' bible is for the writers' reference (early on, anyway - those documents become outdated as the show develops on it own). I'm not sure what you mean by "to better connect on the project". Artists in different positions receive different material as guides. What a storyboard artist needs is separate from what the prop designer needs, for instance. And "refined work flow" sounds more like a production process question. Go to Amazon.com, and search 'animation production'. You'll find tons of books to help you with the production work flow.

Cool, I was asking because Lil'guy's organization doesn't help me much and I want to create a better flow for now on.

I appreciate all you have done and you answered all my questions

YOU ROCK,
J.C.

Great discussion and great resources from everyone. This is very valuable information. I love seeing some of the pitch bibles of successful shows and how they've changed.

I have a follow up question that will certainly garner a range of answers. Once a Pitch bible is complete, how do you get it in front of the right people? This doesn't sound like something you want to just sent to a studio. It appears to be something that supplements a presentation, how do you go about getting time to present? And come in contact with the proper people to present to? I apologize if this has been discussed already in a previous post.

Andy-

i think it really is as simple as calling the studio and saying you have something in mind for a show and you'd like to arrange a pitch with development. studio information is pretty easy to get (ty internet!) i hope that this answers your question somewhat.

Joe Murray, he of 'Rocko's' fame, has created an e-book on the subject of pitching, selling and producing animated series. Here's the first fourteen pages...you'll need the Adobe Acrobat reader plug-in if you want to peruse.
