I'm new to starting discussion threads, but I like the idea of starting one here. I just thought maybe we could share a little bit of what we have going on right now. Comics, storyboards, editorial work, whatever.
Me, I should be doing a little black and white spot illustration that's due in the next couple of days. Instead I'm starting a discussion...
Currently, i'm working with Photoshop and Illustrator to create some custom commissions. Nothing that pays real life money - most of them are for the "Pretentious Artists Lair" in the forum section of an online game called Kingdom of Loathing. If you haven't checked it out, you really should.
I'm still learning and i'm a far step away from being an expert with these programs. Of course, who ever is? I can see how much i've improved just in the last few weeks. Earlier work. Most recent work.
I also have an interview tomorrow with a local graphics and framing company for the position of Graphic Designer. Keep in mind that this is a very small town and that title doesn't probably mean nearly the same thing here as it would in, say, LA. But, it IS what I want to do - it's along my route towards becoming a full-time artist in some way - and YAY, i'd get PAID to do artwork! Everyone cross your fingers for me!
Oh yes, I got the job!! My official title is Graphic Designer, but today I think i've been Copy Girl. Granted, they were professional scans of professional artwork. Right now, i'm scanning in ancient slide negatives for a customer. Tomorrow, i'll begin working on a brochure for a local photographer, helping set up the photography studio and do any other various jobs. Thursday night, my kids get to play models for the evening because they needed some extra Christmas photo samples for the brochure. I'll have to share those photos when they come back!
I was fooling around with photoshop today, and I wanted to try vector imaging. Also No line work! I never really tried doing something like this before. so its my first finished best shot. Its a cartoon version of Dita Von Teese.
