I've recently switched from a PC to using a Mac. I've got a Mac Pro Intel Dual Core 2 ghz processor, 3gb RAM, and 750gb hdd.

I'm still getting used to it, and I've recently bought a Wacom Cintiq to go with it, so I'm getting used to that, too. I've got to say, though, after using PCs for 13 years, the Mac aleady seems a lot better.

At work Im on a
Pre-intel dual 1.8 GHz Power Mac G5
L2 Cache (per CPU): 512 KB
Memory: 1.5 GB
Bus Speed: 900 MHz
running OS 10.4.10
With a Wacom Cintiq 18sx

At home, Ive got pretty much the same setup but with a slightly newer computer, a slightly older OS, and a Cintiq 21ux. I know, I know... I have an addiction to cintiqs.

I use mainly Mirage, Photoshop, and After Effects.

Have to ask a couple questions. First how do you like the mac compared to the PC?? anything one does better than the other?? Also got to ask about the Cintiq, i've wanted one of those forever they seem awesome... What do you think of it?? helpful, cut things out of the workflow??

Not that I've animated anything yet (hell, don't even know if I have any Animating programs), but I just switched to Mac recently. It's a Macbook, 13.3 ", 120 gigs, and 2.16 Ghz. It's a beaut, if I say so myself.

Any animating programs one could get for a Mac?

If you're looking for animation programs (actualy intended for animation, not special effects, motion graphics, or web design), go with Toon Boom. If you're a student, I recommend the Digital Pro Personal Learning Edition... it's free and the industry standard tool.

Yeah, I've heard about Toon Boom alot, I'm pretty sure we use that at school.

Thanks for that Denny, I'll look into it.

Now, to be fair, my Mac montage. I traded in my Dual 2.5GHz Power Mac G5 and 15" (I forget the speed) PowerBook G4 for an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.33GHz 20" iMac and a 2.4GHz 15" MacBook Pro. I also have a 3rd Gen iPod and Apple stickers dating back to the days of rainbows... saving up for an iPhone now.

I love Macs! ...when i don't hate them! *laughs*
Here's my baby:

Machine Name: Power Mac G5 Quad
Machine Model: PowerMac11,2
CPU Type: PowerPC G5 (1.1)
Number Of CPUs: 4
CPU Speed: 2.5 GHz
L2 Cache (per CPU): 1 MB
Memory: 6 GB
Bus Speed: 1.25 GHz

Plus I've got a GeForce 7800GT graphics card installed.

I use a 500 GB firewire 800 G-Drive for storage and working from.

I use two 20' Apple monitors. (gotta have two!)

I'm going to add a second hard drive in the machine soon too...

Yay! It's techie gear-head talk!

What's up, fellas? Thought I'd join this group because I draw cartoons, and I rock the Mac at the house.
