I know you don't come from the east side, but you should've seen the Fremont bridge this morning. Actually, you couldn't see it. The fog was so freakin' thick, you couldn't see the bridge while you were driving on it. Everyone was driving slow.

Didn't get that bad out here (I'm far east side, read Gresham), but my ladyfriend remarks occasionally about the wall of fog on the river coming down from Vancouver to Portland for school.
I need to get out with a camera one of these days. It'd make for a cool picture.
I just clocked in my first year in Portland and I love this place :)
It's like California but without the crazy. The longest I've ever lived in America was about 15 months in Ann Arbor and I was sick of it after a year. I am not a '4 solid months of snow' person. Rain, I can happily live with. The odd snow day around here is pretty fun because Portlanders immediately call a snow day and don't drive anywhere :)
I went to Platform earlier this year and that seemed to go really well, I hope that comes back...
In the event of the Apocalypse, I shall immediately take shelter in Powell's.
Amy, you were at Platform??? So was I. In fact, I was on one of the panels. The one on bloggers. The nerdy one.
There's a possibility that it'll happen every other year. The next one will be in '09 (sounds so far away!). I'm just glad that it'll be on-going, even if we have to wait for it. I had a great time this year.
Well hopefully next time it rolls around I'll have some more arty friends to hang out with instead of 'shyly slink in, watch panel, take notes and sketch, slink shyly out again' ;)
Sorry, I missed the blog panel... I was at Amid's 2 Cartoon Modern presentations, renegade animators (the one Bill Plympton did) and the Pitching to Networks panel.
I still find it astounding that America has no real international animation festival, like Annecy scale.
Sure, but if America had an fest like Annecy, I might lose an excuse to go to France. ;)
Can't wait to catch Platform on the next go 'round myself. Amy, I'm a slinker, too. Unless I'm meeting friends I'm a terrible wallflower. So that pretty much includes everywhere except New York. Thank gord for the moleskine.
Are you all involved in ASIFA Portland? What's that scene like?
Oh man... I have been told of the epic-ness that is Powell's book store. I cannot wait to make my first visit! If I take my hubby, though, I might not ever be allowed to leave... *crosses fingers*
