2008? When did this happen? Just last year it was 2007. Nobody tells me anything.
The project I've been working on is paused until the *entire* company comes back from their retreat (I wonder who's answering the phones and putting away the Aramark order).
So, I took off my illustrator hat and dug out my marketing hat. Mostly it's keeping my head warm, things seems a little slow right now. Gotta get more projects!
So, I am dusting off my notes of short film ideas. I'm sure there's something I can start on in there.
Is anyone else slow right now, or are you all working your collective butts* off?
I am WAITING for stuff to work my butt off, to. Until then, taking commissions from rabid Deviantart fangirls with too much disposable income on their hands seems to work pretty well.
Mind you, if I have to 'Disney Princess-ify' many more original characters, I think I'm going to start killing brain cells.
First order of business - keep nagging a certain Portland animation studio to let me in so I can continue to stalk Ward Jenkins in the Great Retro Stuff Luv-in, this time IN PERSON!
I just moved to Portland from California...I just started animating after anxioulsy awaiting for 20 years.
I just found Channel Frederator and I just joined RAW.
I am working on my first hand drawn animated short...about 50 hours into the work and it should be a whoppin 35 seconds long...maybe a minute depending on how low i turn the frame rate.
Hi all! I am a new Portland resident-- been here about a week now. I was part of the Seattle animators group, but alas, I have moved slightly south where there is rain slightly less often and slightly warmer weather. And a heck of a lot more people than the little town I was in!
I am currently working on a freelance from outside of town, though, so I still dont really know what's going on around these parts, myself. XD
I'm fairly new to Portland myself. I got stuck in Powell's for the whole month of December, I thought it was my friend's house. I was wondering why they kept charging me for coffee.
Are you a member of ASIFA? ASIFA-Portland is having a social-type gathering on April 4th. Might be a good time to see PDX People.
Well-- for any other Portland animator that didnt make it to the ASIFA get-together last night-- too bad for you! It was great fun, and I got to meet Sparky Firepants! : ) *waves to Sparky*
Anyone else who doesnt know about it should look into it! ^_^
I hate that I couldn't make it. Crazy, since it's right around the corner to LAIKA -- but it's an odd time for me, since I'm just getting off from work and the family comes and picks me up -- blah, blah, blah, excuses, excuses, I know. But hopefully I'll be able to go to another ASIFA outing next time!
