Does anyone remember the GI Joe Adventure Team's arch foes: THE INTRUDERS?

I do, but I never got an Intruder for Christmas. I vaguely remember getting the Stretch Monster figure instead and wrecking it the first day I had it. If you don't remember, Stretch Monster was Stretch Armstrong's green scaley enemy from Kenner Toys. His collector's value is way up there when you can actually find one.

It was a big mistake for Hasbro not to revive the Intruders or Mike Power Atomic Man when the 3 and 3/4 inch figures were released in the 80's. On the other hand, Bullet man deserves to rest in peace.

I don't remember any of the cartoons including the Adventure Team as part of the story continuity. They should have.

No way, revive bullet man! He was the cool one of the bunch. The intruders are a bit too far fetched for my taste, and mike powers..... well....the least said of him the better. That guy is clearly a 6 million dollarman rip-off. Hasbro didn't get the rights to manufacture him, so they made ol' mike instead. I like the 60's joe's the best (when were talking 12 inch) but I like the adventure team as well. Especially the sailor, he kicks ass :D

Actually Bulletman was also a rip-off of a 1940's comic book hero published by Fawcett, the same company who originally owned the rights to Captain Marvel. Bulletman and Bulletgirl used get shot in the helmets by nazi spys quite frequently. The spys seemed to only be capable of aiming for their helmets.

Personally I'm the most partial to the original 12 inch figures with painted hair which came out before the bearded Adventure Team "Village People". I had some of both types. As a youngster I usually re-equiped my Adventure Team men with the more military oriented after-market guns and uniforms which were NOT sold under the Hasbro name. I think Palitoy in Britain was making the after-market sets sold at the Ontario chain stores. The hips on the pants were sometimes a little tight. Palitoy's Action Man was made with slightly smaller hips.

My GIJoes' worst enemy was not the Intruder, but the Marx Toy Company Indian, named Chief Cherokee. He had to stand in as the Viet Cong. I would have loved to have found the WWII Japanese soldier from the 60's to use as the V.C.. A reproduction of the Japanese soldier is still on my want list.

Lol, didn't knew that. Nevertheless I think bullet man is quite a different and fun figure in the Joe universe. I also like the painted hair figures the best. I have quite a few vintage action men too, cause they had the military theme t'ill mid eighties and some of my faves like the sas officer and the sutherland highlander.
Never had marx toys (They didn't sell those in the Netherlands, and the fact that I wasn't born yet might have contributed too that fact ;) untill recently, when I saw fighting eagle uk version in drap green. Always had a weakness for toy figures with mowhawks, so I had to have him. When I have enough Ican make a punkrock clip haha, that would be cool.
Maybe I can help you with your quest for the japanese soldier. You can't have mine, but I know a few collectors who regulary sell their doubles at faires and one of them is quitting with his Joe collection altogether. One of them must have 1 or 2 laying around. There are also repro heads and uniforms of the japanese soldier, that's a cheaper option, but personally I would go for the original, much more fun :)

It's surprising someone in europe would be interested in cheesy plastic American toys. When I visited the toy stores in Frankfurt back in 1991, most of the toys in the stores were make of metal. I loaded up on 45mm scale zinnfiguren molds and metal casting tools while I was there. Did you cast your own soldiers out of metal as a youngster?

Here's a link to view some custom 12 inch soldiers from my collection which you might appreciate a little more than the average American collector.

I'm envious of anyone close enough to visit the military museums in Brussels.

Eventually I'll probably find a reasonably priced Japanese figure. Hasbro released a reproduction of the Austalian soldier from the same series, so it may only be a matter of time before it's in the store.

Haha, maybe thats a german thing, I don't know ;) I was born in '82 so I grew up with the 3 3/4 Gi.joe's, Transformers, He-man, Thundercats, Turtles and stuff like that. The only metal toys in the toyshops them days here in Holland were scale cars as far as I can remember.

Got into the vintage Joe's cause I had most of the little ones I wanted and wanted some originals as well. Now I'm switching back and forward. Buying practicly only vintage one year, and 3 3/4's the other. keeps things interresting. Now I'm looking for dutch/ belgian carded joe's and some of the 25th line. The most recently bought 12' was the action sailor with box.

The military museum(s) in Belgium are on my 'to do' list, but tíll now I only went too our neighbours for punk/ hardcore festivals or cruising with my girlfriend and a guy who buys his illegal fireworks there (LOL, he's the son of a cop, go figure).

I like your customs very much. There are some 12 inch toylines who specialise in the old uniforms like, knights, highlanders, napoleon etc. But they are waaaaay to expensive for my taste. I think your self made men are just as good, and I can imagine how much fun it must be to arrange a figure like that :) Nice work!
