This sucks

I discovered today that I have lost all of my work from the last three years! Its awesome! All of my animation, complete and raw files in both 3ds max and flash are gone, not to mention a lot of concept art. Too boot, they were on my desk top, lap top and my external hard drive and they are all gone now. These machines are networked so??? The only files I have left were on one of my thumb drives and I am now in the process of reworking three years worth of work, or at least what I can salvage.

yeah i was able to salvage a lot of music, but I would probably trade that for the art and photos, which are oddly the only folders that were completely wonked. I'm considering online storage/backup, but I haven't looked too deep at the different services.

That Sucks! 500 GB what did you do? Could you salvage anything? Usually, the suckiness wears off after awhile, but the more I think about this It really sucks.
Three years worth of assets in 3d, character, rigs, animation, environments, props everything gone. The only thing gone from every spot was my work, so it seemed like it was done intentionally but the only people who had access were my wife, who is computer illiterate, and my son, who is 2, and loves to mash key boards and has been known to do stranger things to our computers so....
Oh well...
Ill just keep on setting new keyframes I guess.

how can one loose everything from laptop, desktop and hard drive, all at the same time? was it a surge?
About 500 GB of my work was scrambled to death this winter. It was gross.
